New Animal Pens
We
currently
have
five
pens
located
at
the
bottom
end
of
the
Shelter's
garden,
unfortunately
they
are
now
rather
old
which
has
led
to
a
number
of
problems
including
increased
heating
costs, leaking and difficulty cleaning them as they are made mostly of wood.
The
council
have
given
us
permission
to
build
new
pens
and
we
will
be
able
to
increase
the
number of pens meaning we can help more animals.
We've
been
doing
some
research
and
have
located
several
companies
offering
insulated
uPVC
animal
pens.
These
pens
will
be
more
economical
to
heat
and
will
help
to
prevent
illnesses
as
there
is
a
glass
barrier
so
the
cats
can
still
see
each
other,
but
not
come
into
contact.
This
will
be
a
major
piece
of
work
and
will
require
the
old
pens
to
be
taken
down,
the
area
concreted
over
and
the
new
pens
being
built.
We
will
also
need
to
call
in
the
services
of
an
electrician and it is estimated that this project will cost in excess of £40,000.
